Hey guys, This is for the questions I get from time to time
About me
My name is Yannick(pronounced like "yawn-nick") Toney. I'm currently in high school, but I want to go to college for animation. I'm normally a quiet person, I like to draw a lot, some people say I'm really talented but to be perfectly honest, I just practise a lot so I cant say i have any talent... just a will to keep on drawing ^^ Practise DOES make perfect . I'm a really friendly person. I also play guitar in my spare time or whenever I'm not drawing, I used to want to play it seriously, but then another kind of art took over my life
I started to get really serious bout art around last year when I realized I wasn't as good as I wanted to be, so now I practise as much as I can to get better.
Where did your user name come from?
For those of you who know my original character "Therhi" is a blond haired ninja. He was the very first original character I ever drew when I was 9 years old.
Do you take requests?
I used to , but now that I've started my commissions, I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS
What program do you use?
Currently, I use Open canvas for my digitally drawn linearts and use photoshop 7.0 for colouring (I gotta try OC for painting too
How long does it take you to paint ?
On average, about 3-5 hours on a serious painting, and like 15-30 mins on a lineart.
What do you use to paint/Draw in PS ?
I use a Wacom Bamboo tablet, sure am hoping to get a bigger one though.... ><
Brushes?
I use whatever is in PS, on rare occasion I will make a custom brush and use it once ><
What do you do when you're not drawing ?
Sleep for 20 hours....
Will you teach me how to draw???
No. Basics, that's debatable...to be honest, the best way to learn anything is through trial and error, find something that works for you; find some tutorials and such through DA or take a life drawing class (which I should do at some point
What is your favourite style of art/ favourite kind of art?
For style, I like Oil paints a lot. I have no idea how to use them but some paintings look really beautiful when you paint with them right
Are you self-taught or were you taught by someone else?
I guess a little bit of both...? Up until around grade four I kind of looked off of other friends of mine I knew could draw well and then learned from that (I dont know if you can consider that being taught...). For the first few years of my life I was really inspired by my sister and cousin, they were (and still are) really good artists and I wanted to be just like them, the more I got into art, the more serious I wanted to get with it.
How much do you draw in a day?
Not very much actually, some days inspiration just comes to me, others I know I have to draw something and I'll spend hours a day putting things together until I like my result.
That's the most I've ever typed in a journal! If there are anymore questions, fell free to ask
